• Discover the Transformation and New Opportunities at the 156th Annual Meeting with Christina Paxson

It is exciting to witness the transformation of the former Jewelry District in Providence. I have walked through the area many times over the last few weeks, and it is teeming with activity. Business professionals are moving into new buildings. College students are finding hideaway study spots along the waterfront. And a plethora of companies in the life sciences and offshore wind industries are clustering within CIC Providence at 225 Dyer Street.

For those of you who have not seen it for yourself, I highly encourage you to head there to take in the vibe. Of note is the construction of new wet lab space designed to attract biotech firms and startups seeking a more cost-effective alternative to Boston.  The 30,000 square foot incubator facility being developed by Ancora L&G is located on the fourth floor of 150 Richmond Street.

Meanwhile, the Rhode Island Life Science Hub is pumping money in to the sector. They are granting startup funds to Bryant University, Providence College, Rhode Island College, the University of Rhode Island, Brown University and other institutional leaders to catalyze innovative research in personalized medicine.

Another way you can tap into all this sizzling energy is to spend time making connections between and among members who are driving this growth. You are invited to the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting on Nov. 25 where you will find a fantastic opportunity to engage in the transformation. Christina Paxson, president of Brown University, will highlight how more than a decade of forward-looking investment by Brown continues to reinvigorate the area. The before-and-after is staggering.

By attending the 156th Annual Meeting, you will walk away with a deeper understanding of all the new business opportunities that are bubbling up and how your company can benefit. Pre-registration is required. I look forward to catching up with you. Tell me your story!
