• Connecticut-Based O&G Industries Expands into Rhode Island

O&G Industries, Inc., Connecticut’s largest privately owned construction company, announces it has expanded its territory into Rhode Island, following the successful completion of its initial fast-track design-build of Providence’s Spaziano Elementary School. With multiple projects now underway in the Ocean State, O&G has opened a permanent office in Downtown Providence.

O&G is currently engaged in preconstruction planning for Providence’s Spaziano Middle School project, which is expected to start construction in the late fall. The $28.6M facility spans 38,756 square feet and is designed by Tecton Architects. The construction timeline is estimated at fourteen months, aiming to replicate the success of the Spaziano Elementary School, which was impressively completed in just 10 months.

As the first new elementary school in Providence in two decades, Spaziano Elementary is at the forefront of modern learning, aligning with Governor Dan McKee's plan to match Massachusetts' educational standards by 2030. By cutting absenteeism in half and serving as a cornerstone for the infrastructure overhaul, it plays a vital role in addressing both structural and educational disparities in Providence.

O&G recently broke ground on the new State Street School in Westerly, RI. Designed by TSKP Architects, with Northeast Collaborative acting as associate architects, this $26.3M, 48,000 square foot school will serve 300 kindergarten through 4th grade students. A significant aspect of this new facility is its environmentally friendly mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems, designed to operate without dependence on fossil fuels. Staff will transition to the new building in the summer of 2026, after which the existing school will be demolished, and site work will be completed in the fall of 2026.

This project represents a significant investment in the future of Westerly’s education infrastructure, providing students with modern, purpose-built learning environments designed to meet the needs and standards of 21st-century education.

In addition, O&G Industries' Building Group has been awarded another substantial design-build school project in Providence, with a budget of $78 million. This series of projects underscores the company's capability and readiness to undertake and successfully complete significant construction projects within Rhode Island.
