The Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island celebrate employers who prioritize the well-being of employees

Recognizing organizations that prioritize the health of its employees, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) and the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce honored 47 businesses with 2024 Worksite Health Awards. This is the 30th year of these awards.

The Worksite Health Awards honor Rhode Island-based employers that demonstrate sincere commitment to maintaining a healthy workplace through policy, culture, and educational opportunities. With some companies having locations outside the state and with workforces that are hybrid or virtual, the awards help showcase employer commitment in Rhode Island and beyond, as well as best practices for improving the health and well-being of employees.

The annual event took place today during a celebration at The Crowne Plaza hotel that featured a keynote given by motivational speaker and corporate optimism coach Charles Innis. Special Create and Innovate awards were presented to the following:

    • Brown University -- for a new bimonthly podcast to share wellness and benefits information
    • Lifespan -- for creating a sanctuary for meditation and stress reduction called The Bree Health Pod
    • People’s Credit Union -- for a quarterly bingo event to promote steps toward physical, mental, and financial well-being.
“At Blue Cross, we’re proud to recognize the leadership and creativity of the Worksite Health Award winners. I applaud the innovative approaches that go beyond physical health to help employees, wherever they may work and live, improve their mental, social, and financial well-being,” said Melissa Cummings, BCBSRI executive vice president and chief customer officer. “Sharing ideas is an important part of this annual event.
